Lucy,

I am actually a believer in breaking or at least bending rules at time, such as the rule of thirds.  I must say in this case though, I like this image better and not break any rules!  The centering in the other image is not as attractive to me than this one.  Great shot too with a very friendly looking couple.  So...my choice is this one.   Also....you do very well with people!!  Great shot.

I definitely prefer this cropped version of the photo.  Great use of selective focus, while still maintaining enough details in the background to add interest to the image.

Lovely backdrop for this picture. I also like the cropped version better, but want to have my cake and eat it by including more of the wall behind them, still not putting them in the centre and retaining the sqaure format!

I much prefer this cropped version too. It really focuses on the subjects and leaves out extraneous elements behind them. Simpler is better.

I'll add another comment. I prefer this off-center placement on the right edge facing into the frame. In the other image they are centered and thus facing out of the frame. Also the tighter crop in this version makes the couple a larger part of the overall scene, making the more prominent.

Lucy I agree the cropped version is better

BUT I would take it a little further and crop the  B/G  yellow and blue bldg just below the round object on the right of the bldg.

This will ease of the very busy B/G which is a little distracting and let the couple be the main object

prefer this version, and I agree with the previous comment about cropping out some more of the background, as it does take some of my attention away from the couple..
