Fall of Ayutthaya
One of the great battles ended up with the destruction of the ancient capital city of Thailand, Ayutthaya. In 1767, the Burmese fought the Thai's for months until finally overrunning the walls and laid waste to the city. In the process, the Burmese decapitated the Buddha statues throughout the grounds. Today, Ayutthaya is a fascinating place of visit about 1 hour north of Bangkok.
