Tenting Tonight
This image is a bit "avant garde" for me. I really wanted to bring out the brightness of the stars, but by adjusting shadows, highlights, brightness, contrast, and/or levels I also brought out a good bit of digital noise. I've never learned how to use layers and layer masks in Photoshop Elements, so I don't know if I could have double-processed the original RAW image, first for the shadows and then for the highlights and then merged the two as layers, etc. So, I took the route of intentionally exaggerating the noise. Do you think that exaggeration gives this image an "artsy" feel, or do you think that it merely looks grotesque?

I don't find it grotesque. I find it purposeful and would assume it was intentional had you not described the circumstances for how you arrived at this presentation.
