I think this is excellent. I like how the sun rays come down on the left side, and the closest Acacia tree anchors the right side. There is flow across the frame, left to right. I also like how there are other Acacia trees further in the distance, getting smaller and smaller. This provides a great sense of space and distance. You waited until the right time too, when the direct sun itself is hidden behind the clouds. Its evidence in the sun rays is enough, and makes for a much more dramatic image in my opinion. I also like how you have placed the horizon low in the frame. There is just enough grass to offer a sense of place. The only thing that could make this more impressive would be to see a cheetah lying on a limb up in that foreground tree with the tail hanging down, and maybe with a fresh meal hanging over the limb Smile Great first post!

Hi Britt, I love the image as is... I have lived in Africa all my life and I still never get tired of it...

If I really had to nitpick I might have tried to move the tree slightly more to the right hand side and perhaps left out the top little bit of sky and tried to get a fraction more foreground....

that said, it is only nitpicking, the colour and composition are awesome...and the idea of space that is conveyed is what Africa is all about..

Britt, wonderful photograph. As mentioned by others, it gives a great sense of place and space. My only suggestion would be to clone out the small part of the distant tree poking in the lefthand side of the frame.
