Sunset on 12/12/12
This was taken as I was leaving work on 12/12/12. The house in the image is called the "Net Zero" house. It is a research project constructed to demonstrate that a typical suburban home can be built to generate as much energy as it consumes in a year (http://www.nist.gov/el/nzertf/net_zero_91212.cfm). This was a single frame out of the Nikon D800 with Picture Mode set to Vivid and with contrast set all the way to the left (minimum). I processed it both in Apple Aperture 3 and Adobe Lightroom 4. Both software package produce an image this good. The above is the Lightroom 4.3 version.

Very nice image Walter...actually looks like the coming of 12/21/12 instead, although we have survived that.   Interesting story too and will look into the link.   To me the rows in the lawn add to the image too.
