You cannot get a scene that is much more 'Dutch' than this: bicycles, flat land, green field, big sky, church spire on the horizon, threatening rain. I suppose I could photoshop a few cows in there!

Where's the dyke????  :-)   Nicely framed with two girls riding off into the storm.   I noticed on my monitor the sky near the horizon appears a little too bright for me.  Maybe darken up a little more?   I do love the sky though as it makes the image work.

Where do you think my raised view came from? I was standing on the dike!

Love it, Ruud. It does portray a powerful essence of the Netherlands and to me it is a classic for that fact. It also somehow keeps suggesting to my mind the image of "American Gothic" - even though it not American and not gothic in any way. My point is this really resonates for me on several levels and I have no choice but to consider it a great success. Thanks for posting it!

RUUD I thought you were standing on the cheese Wink

I agree you need to darken those clouds and add a little more contrast and then it will be a bigger WOW.
