Elephant Nose Shrew - Zambia
Now here is something I never quite thought I would capture, but we were completing a walking safaris in Zambia and it was getting dusk. A little unsettling with all the noises about and then there was a rustle of leaves next to our path. After settling down the nerves, the guide pointed out the shrew and I was fortunate enough to have the 50D ready with the pop up flash. I only had this one chance as it ran away immediately after this.

Very nice and sharp! Good thing you had your telelens on the camera, how close were you?

Islay and Jura, our two, cats sometimes leave smaller european cousins of these cute animals outside our bedroom door. Not sure if they are a present to say 'thanks for looking after us and paying the vet's bills,' or a reminder that they need to be fed.
