The Coloured Earths of Chamarel
These colors emerged from the volcanic earth, through a peculiar dynamic of the cooling lavas hardening at different temperatures. While the specific geology eludes me, certainly Chamarel offers a huge hillside ramble of incredible color schemes, which somehow is on permanent display!

That is a WOW

A fantastic natural colour palette

Great colors - well seen! The image does seem a tad bit soft - though it might be due to lack of defined lines in the image. By the way, where is Chamare?

Hi Joe, very nice to hear from you. Chamarel is a town in Mauritius and this attraction is called The Coloured Earths just outside the main activity center there.

Yes the image is soft and frankly that fact is a feature of my shortcomings as a digital photography circa 2005 when I shot this. Honestly it makes me want to return to all the places I have photographed before so that I can improve on my haul!

But at least this composition is pleasing (or, at least we agree on that as well)! And I can always Watercolor it if the lack of that authentic photographic feel becomes an issue for more than just us!
