I shot this while standing in the doorway of a slave quarters building that sits on the grounds of the McLean House in Appomattox Court House National Historical Site, VA. I used the on-camera pop-up flash and then brought out the interior detail using the fill light tool in the Sigma Photo Pro 4 RAW conversion software.

Hi Roger - great shot here and very deft use of fill flash plus post processing. You've struck a skillful balance in your exposure between outdoors and indoors. From your thumbnail I assumed you had used HDR!

I also like the off-center positioning of the window to create the compositional balance that you have achieved here. And of course the subject itself is some sobering food for thought.
