 I like the way all of the elements of this photo came together - the light on the heron, the reflection, the contrasting green and blue colors. Taken at Delaware's Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.

 This is in Victoria on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. You would never find this place if someone didn't tell you about it. It is a house in a residential neighborhood that was turned into a tea room and gardens. I highly recommend it if you go to Victoria.

 I took this shot with my new Sigma 150-500mm lens, hand-held, at Maryland's Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge. The eagle's wings show motion blur, as I snapped the shutter just a moment before the bird launched itself off of the branch.

 At this time of the year there are a number of different duck species, including canvasbacks like this one, to be found in the Choptank River at the foot of Oakley Street in Cambridge, Maryland. A photographer friend of mine mentioned the location to me twice before I finally took the hint. Yesterday was a perfect opportunity for me to go there and try out my new Sigma 150-500mm optically stabilized lens. This image was hand held.

 I was very fortunate to get a daylight shot of this spotted eagle owl. i was walking along a dirt road in a nature reserve and as I passed a bush, there it was... I'm not sure who was more surprised, but I do know I was quicker on the upshot and got the image before the owl flew away

 the lioness had just picked up a scent that was strange to her and in response by baring the fangs like this, she releases her own 'scent' into the area... a little like marking her territory...

 these two lionesses had just chased a leopard off it's kill and were in a murderous mood as they searched for the leopard.... they left the kill without touching it they were so intent on looking for the leopard..

 This leaf is one of several that were floating on a raised reflecting pool of water at Chanticleer Garden in Wayne, PA, along Philadelphia's Main Line. This is a tight crop of a larger image. I like how the white particles in the black water resemble stars in the night sky and how the water on the leaf magnifies and enhances the colors.

 Common Kestrels on the rare list in Israel only a couple of hundred pairs mate ehere every year. This is the foreplay feeding the female before mating. The female is flying in to take the food

 I took this during a special photo session for photographers only at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD. Several Saturdays or Sundays throughout the summer the garden opens its butterfly exhibit two hours before the general public arrives and allows a limited number of photographers (for a small fee) to use tripods (which are otherwise prohibited) to photograph the insects. I found that most of the time mounting my camera on my tripod was too restrictive, so I took most of my images hand-held. I used my brand-new 105mm optically stabilized macro lens.

 I took this photo recently at Delaware's Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Three of us were on a photo trip to the Delaware coast in order to shoot the annual horseshoe crab egg laying frenzy when we came upon a large group of egrets feeding together.
