While casually shooting the wedding of a friend three weeks ago in Cancun, I caught this photo of my daughter Zoe in attendance. For me this shot is valuable as a family memory, but I was so proud that the groom liked it for its candid portrayal of the crowd in general.

This is actually one of my favorite accidental shots ever from my last trip to the Sichuan Province of China. Purely happenstance, I was sitting in the front seat of the vehicle with camera ready and set to ISO 400 and AV mode. I really did not notice this bike, but thought unusual when we quickly approached at 80km/hour. I snapped the image and upon review, was thrilled with the results. Of course, the little boy sitting backwards with those eyes caught my attention, but as I dug deeper into the image, I also noticed you can actually see all three faces. For extra credit...can you tell what the driver is doing? (not sure if easy to see with this smaller image).

A portrait of the bride at the Cancun wedding I attended two weekends ago. Nobody could escape the feeling that this was by far the happiest day of her life.

The food in the Sichuan province in China was of course quite good. The best places were the road-side food vendors and this gentleman was our chef for a very delightful lunch. I learned to appreciate the overall flexibility of the wok!

An old man decided to walk down this alley in Vejer, Spain while I was composing to shoot the white village thru the arch. He added a great foreground touch and really added to the composition.

One of my most pleasureable encounters was with this young child being carried on Mom's back. We had a great time as everytime I drew close, he would explode with smiles and laughter. Just me as I had others with me. Wonder why??? We travelled on speed boat for about 1 hour to get to this small village in Northern Thailand famous for their elephants.

While in Luang Prabang, Laos, I shot this with a couple of local girls enjoying the food together and in LP...the food is fantastic. They even have internationally known cooking schools there in this peaceful, wonderful setting on the banks of the Mekong River. So, can you tell who is doing all of the talking???

This chubby 1 year kiddo was sitting right next to us on the beach chair, visibly irritated. He was waiting for his mum to wake up and take him to the beach to play. This photo was taken on Koh Larn Island (Coral Island), off the coast of Pattaya. I just loved the way he kept on pouting for a long time :)

The Bacup Consortium yesterday announced that they have received funding from the Big Lottery Fund. This will enable them to continue and expand their work for the next three years. They were awarded 276,000 pounds for a mental health project in Rossendale. The portrait is of Christopher, who brought some apropriately named chocolates for the party. He will be one of the people who are going to benefit from the project.

I am very proud of my wife Di, who chairs the organisation, and all the other volunteers, especially Barbara who did most of the work on the bid. They are Heroes!

While staying at a hotel in Sapa, Vietnam, it was surprising to see a Christmas tree and this little girl was having a blast with the decorations and presents. Sapa is an amazing place located an overnite train ride from Hanoi. This town is rapidly becoming popular with tourism as a variety of local tribes populate these northern mountain slopes on the China border. It was actually cold there!

While walking about the large market we visited one day in Flores, these locals were ready to go home on the bus. It looked like a long tiring day for most of them and having very crowded buses did not make things better.

As we were touring the ruins near Ankor Wat in Cambodia, I came upon this young girl just leaning sadly against the wall. This was one of the times I wished I had actually known the local language to be able to talk with her. We all have faces we shoot that stay in our minds longer than others...she was and still is one of those faces to me.

North of Guilin, China is the area called the Dragons Backbone which entails beautiful mountanous terrain with the famous terraced rice fields. We stopped at one of the villages, Dazhai, to have lunch and this young, attractive lady provided us the service. It was pretty darn close to Shangri La that day with perfect weather, wonderful and friendly people, great food in a truly remarkable location.

Upon a visit to northern Thailand, we visited the Karen tribe of which they are noted for the elongated neck. This is believed to be jewelry and not for any other significant tribal reasons. These collars around the neck can weigh as much as 18 lbs and lowers the collar bone, but it has been proven that upon permenant removal, woman can lead a normal life. It really does not lengthen the neck, but provides the appearance. It takes 1 hour to put on and 3 hours to take off.
