A bronze sculpture of Columbus in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. To me it appears as though Columbus is begging the giant pigeon for mercy on behalf of the entire royal court - after a reign of obvious terror has already begun.

Just been out for a quick ride, part of a photo - tag game, and I quite liked how this one came out. Not bad for a wee Canon S90!

I took a bit of a diversion on the way home from work this evening. It was really an exploration for some locations for bluebell season... but I rather liked this scene.

Zanzibar, after a mornings diving, our boat dropped us off at this beach at a fishing village on the east coast of Zanzibar. At this time all the fishing dhows were also returning from their days fishing and the local population, and cattle were coming down to welcome them home.. the combination of sand, sea, and contrasts made this shot very easy for me.

A quick one from today - I was enroute to a job in Lindale and spotted this wee waterfall. I must have driven past it dozens of times without registering it's existance, but once I spotted it I had to go back for a quick photograph.

The wind was blowing pretty hard, but I rather liked the movement it gave to the trees and foreground plants - especially with a 6 second exposure!

This is a view from inside the famed Chicago Loop, where all the tall buildings and elevated subway tracks get together for shoots of Blues Brothers films. It is very energizing to walk around down there, as long as you don't mind being (and looking like) a tourist. This shot just provides a sense of how tightly everything is packed in and how various architectural juxtapositions are available like candy, if you are into that type of photography.

In 2009 my wife and I spent a couple of days on Washington's Olympic Peninsula while vacationing in Seattle. We explored several areas of Olympic National Park, including some its beaches along the Pacific coast. In this photo I was trying to capture the sea stacks and the mayhem of all of the driftwood logs piled on the beach like a bunch of Pick Up Sticks, while at the same time showing strong depth of field for an upcoming camera club competition theme.

I just spent a long weekend on Holy Island, on the east coast of England. The island, also know as Lindisfarne, is accessible by car or on foot at low tide. These poles are there to guide the walkers the few miles accross the sand. As you can see it was just a little misty this morning, but if the real fog comes down when you're in the middle you need those poles!

I was up in the North Lakes today and took a couple of shots around Castlerigg. The conditions were interesting with some low lying clouds but the lighting was an absolute nightmare. Shooting into the sun... hmmmm.
