This was our end of trip photograph - a few thousand miles over a fortnight.  Great memories, great times, great beer... terrible weather!

Looking out from Stromness over Hamnavoe - the place names in Orkney are all Norse in origin as this was part of the Viking and Nordic world for so long.

So called as it crosses the Atlantic Ocean to the Isle of Siel.  I love this spot and always stop to visit when in that corner of Scotland.

This footprint carved into the rock on the summit at Dunnadd hillfort was used in the kingship ceremony of the ancient Scots.  The foot of the king had to fit into the depression exactly (about a size 8 UK)

The ancient kingdom of the Scots, now in Argyll (Scotland).  The Scots were an Irish clan that invaded the Pictish lands in what is now Scotland.

We had ridden the bikes up from my home in the Lake District to the top end of Loch Lomond in a single run,  it's a long way and we were very, very tired and not entirely happy.
