This flower caught my eye in the greenery of Panchgani, during a weekend trip. Loved the yellow colour with the spotted orange combination.

These tiny wild orchids bloom around May each year and are a challenge to shoot if there is the slightest breeze. This was taken with a long lens and an extender to get deliberate background blur. The only Photoshop work here was to boost the contrast a little.

I was not planning to add to this week's challenge again....but went to the Singapore Zoo today with guests and happened to have shot this, but did not bother to check what it was. I loaded when I got home and was happy with it. Not much post processing except bring out the structure more and sharpen up a bit. Background was dark and light was coming in overhead. I think I have discovered this flower on the internet...so if you know, please let me know if this is correct!

From the rhododendron garden at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington. The rhododendrons are placed among a forest area in the park. I cropped this quite a bit. The uncropped image shows the full leaves under the blossoms, but they are pretty rough looking and distracted from the image. The crop cuts out most of the bad parts of the leaves (though not all).

Went out to shoot flowers in spring and the wind started.
Watching the grasses swirl in the wind gave me the idea to do a slow speed shot and
catch the movement.I hope you likr the result .:)

Not really a pretty sight, but the Rafflesia arnoldii is considered the largest flower in the world and located in only one spot in the world, Sabah, Malaysia, which is on the island of Borneo. When you visit Sabah, they post sightings of this flower at each hotel as it is also very rare that one is available for viewing. We were "lucky" to have one in its early state of decay as pictured. This flower grows on the ground and rarely blossoms.

This flower is the rarest in Israel growing in one spot and flowering for about 2 weeks.
There may be as many as 20 -30 flowers a year.
It grows at a height of about 800meters

Not sure classifies as a "Bloom", but as walking my dog, I happened to carry my camera along in trying to learn how to shoot with my 180mm macro lens. This was one of the first shots I did in the neighbors yard before the wind blew it away.

This is part of a series of images I took at a neighbor's house. Their rhododendron bush had various blossoms in every stage of development. This was taken with a 70-200/f2.8 with 20mm extension tube to limit depth of field.

Water lily blossom captured at Lilypons Water Garden Center in Adamstown, Maryland. This was taken outdoors in a shaded water fountain thus the water droplets. Lilypons is known the world over as a premium supplier of water lily and lotus plants. I have nearly 1000 images of blossoms from there. They are very photographer friendly, even permitting photo workshops.
