Posting Guidelines
Note: Instructions for using the TPN image critique galleries can be found
on the Forum Help page.
Critiques can range from the simple to the complex. They can cover the detailed
technical nuances of image taking, post-processing or composition, and they can
offer insights into the emotional or personal impact of an image. For suggestions
on how to approach making a comment, review Jim Erhardt's excellent
The Art of Image Critique.
Fundamentally, TPN is about photographers helping photographers to improve themselves.
There is as much to gained by posting a well-constructed critique of an image as
there is in receiving one. All comments must be posted in the spirit of constructive,
congenial, and professional support for our friends and colleagues. Any comments
falling outside this province will be deleted, and repeated offences will not be
permitted.

The following guidelines apply to all images posted in the TPN image critique galleries
-
The person posting the image must hold the copyrights to the image. The posting
of pirated material is strictly prohibited!
-
Images must pertain to travel, outdoor or adventure photography.
-
Use a short yet descriptive photo title.
-
Include information on where the image was taken, equipment and film used,
camera/flash settings and how the equipment was supported (tripod, handheld, etc.).
We strongly encourage the description of any specific technique or skill that was
used to capture the image.
-
Indicate if the image is "full frame" or "cropped." If cropped, give a brief
description of how much and from what side(s).
-
If the image has been digitally altered beyond simple adjustments to colour,
contrast and sharpening, etc., please state so in your post!
-
Image size must be limited to 640 pixels on its longest side. For panoramic
images (horizontal only), images may be sized to 720 pixels in width but must be
limited to 360 pixels maximum in height.
-
Maximum file size for images hosted by TPN is 200KB (RGB JPEG
files only). The 200KB limit does not apply for posts that link to
images on other servers. However, bear in mind that larger files will
take longer to load, particularly for those on dial-up connections.
-
The posting limit is one image every 24 hours in each forum.
-
Do not delete your image after comments have been posted.
-
Please keep your comments constructive and friendly! Contact the
TPN Editor if you feel any comment or image is inappropriate. The TPN staff reserves
the right to delete or leave stand any post at their discretion.
-
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in the deletion of your image or
post.
