How is the TPN Cover Image chosen? |
|
The
TPN Cover Image
is intended as a method of recognising and publicising
the good work of the TPN community. Regular TPN contributors
are welcome to submit candidate cover images to the
TPN
Editor
for consideration.
TPN has enjoyed the support of many talented photographers
who have contributed their magnificent work for past
and present TPN cover images. There is no payment for
use of cover images. Photographers are given full credit
for their work, and all rights remain with the photographer.
TPN will occasionally run a Travel Challenge to choose
the cover image. Keep an eye out for these opportunities
to get your image on the cover of TPN!

What are the benefits of registering with TPN? |
|
TPN is open to letting all visitors
peruse the image galleries and articles. The first
direct benefit of becoming a registered user is the
ability to interact with, and become part of, the TPN
community.
Registered guests are able to make comments on images,
post replies on the discussion boards, and post images
into the critique forums (by linking to an image hosted
on your own web site). This last point, posting images,
allows you to get direct feedback from your
peers on your work, and is the greatest benefit we
can offer - to help you become a better photographer.

What are the benefits of becoming a TPN Member? |
|
TPN Members are the people who
support the existence of the community, keeping it
as advertising-free as practicable.
The first thing that TPN provides to its membership
in return for this support, is the ability to have
posted images hosted on the TPN server for fast, reliable
delivery. There is no need to upload images to another
service and then link across to TPN. We will host and
deliver your image in the image critique and Editor's
Pick forums for you.
Valid paid membership to TPN also entitles you to
create a 120 image portfolio on www.photoportfolios.net,
our photo-marketing partner site.
Additionally, TPN Members are eligible for the Editor's
Pick Awards at the end of the year. This is our way
of recognising the accomplishments of our community
and to say thank you for your generous support.
TPN would not exist if it were not for our members,
and we are grateful for your patronage and friendship.

Is TPN interested in my article? If so, how do
I submit it? |
|
TPN regularly publishes reader-submitted
and professionally written articles. Perhaps you have
a story that introduces a new or spectacular photographic
destination? Or you may know a particular technique
that is useful to your fellow photographers! If so,
why not submit it to TPN?
For those who have great portfolios of images, but
who are not able to provide a full-sized article, TPN
will publish Photo Essays of a dozen of more images.
TPN does not pay to publish Photo Essays.
All articles and essays remain on the site indefinitely,
so you can refer to your published work by linking
to the exact address of the article, which will not
change.
The TPN
Submission
Guidelines
outline the process. If you have any questions, feel
free to contact the
TPN
Editor
, who will be happy to help you prepare your submission.

What are the Editor's Pick Awards? |
|
At year-end, the best of the Editor's
Pick images chosen during the calendar year are selected
by the TPN Staff, and prizes are awarded to the top
images.
To qualify for these awards, the photographer must
be a valid, paid TPN Member at the time of the award
presentation.

Forums: What is the Travel Challenge? |
|
In order to encourage TPN members
and guests to extend their photographic eye beyond
their usual subjects and techniques, the Travel Challenge
(TC) was initiated in March of 2004. This is a
friendly competition where themes submitted by the
TPN community are used as the basis for posting images.
Images submitted under a TC theme are eligible to be
chosen as an Editor's Pick for that challenge. Further
information on the current TC themes and the guidelines
for TC submissions can be found
here
.
TPNers are also encouraged to submit candidate TC
themes to the
TPN
Editor

Forums: What are Editor's Picks? |
|
Each week, the staff at TPN choose
an image from each of the
image
forums as their choice for the Editor's
Pick of the Week. At the end of each Travel Challenge,
a TC Editor's Pick image may be chosen from those submitted
in addition.
At the end of the year, prizes will be awarded to
the top Editor's Pick images submitted by a TPN Member.
Only TPN members will be eligible for prizes.
The Editor's Pick concept is meant as a friendly
way to recognise the outstanding work of the TPN community.
Whereas most images posted into the Image Critique
forums expire from the site after 45 days, Editor's
Pick images remain available for viewing without expiration.

Anyone is welcome to nominate an image posted by a

Forums: What is an Image Critique Forum? |
|
The Image Critique Forums are

from their photographic peers in the TPN community.
TPN readers are encouraged to help their colleagues

Forums: Why can't I leave comments or post images? |
|
You must be a registered guest
or paid member to leave comments. If you are registered
with TPN, and you wish to leave comments or post images,
make sure you are logged
in.
If you have left comments
or posted images in the past, and suddenly lose that
ability, TPN may have lost track of who you are. TPN
tracks members and guests by using a 'cookie', and
sometimes they can become corrupted.
First check to ensure that you are actually logged
in. If not,
log
in
to TPN.
If it still doesn't work, you may try to 'Clear Cookies'
to correct the problem. Be aware that clearing cookies
may affect stored passwords you have for other sites
as well. Once they are cleared, you will need to login
to TPN once again. You may find that when you visit
other sites, the you will need to log into them as
well.
In Internet Explorer, the command to Clear Cookies
is under:
- 'Tools'; 'Internet Options...'
- On the 'General' tab, press the 'Delete Cookies...'
button
- When asked 'Delete all cookies in the Temporary
Internet Files Folder?' click 'OK'.
The command for other browsers are similar. If you
experience difficulties, feel free to contact the
TPN
Editor

There are a number of tips for
