In most parts of the globe a celebrity's face becomes synonymous with a product he or she is endorsing and due to copyright issues it is nearly impossible to see their likeness shown in public places without their sponsor also being mentioned, but in countries where law enforcement does not enforce copyright laws famous faces and names often end up being featured on an endless number of odd products and places.
A good example of this is in the Tanzanian capital Dar Es Salaam where the countenances of many Western Hip-hop artists, athletes, film stars and politicians adorn the walls and entrances of most barber shops, restaurants, engravers and other establishments.
These images also tend to affirm the "soft power" of Western popular culture, as the overwhelming popularity of foreign figures in attracting attention and selling products versus those of domestic celebs is all too clear.
